We’ve all been there. Here’s 3 quick myths about spiritual scammers that you really need to pay attention to. Gone are the days of the Nigerian Prince and you being the only surviving relative to inherit his uncle’s estate. Or whatever.
Myth 1) It’s okay to add people as a friend since we’re in a mutual group together.
No. New profiles (sock accounts) are usually either bots or scammers. Limited friends, 2 weeks on Facebook, no content on their profile.
Why? Because they’ve already been busted and shut down a few times, OR, they’re hiding their true identity from you (why?). Unless you personally know them, don’t add them as friends. That will keep you from getting your accounts hacked and them messaging your friends with malware. Bonus - it also helps keep the good ones honest, if they value their social media account for business purposes.
Myth 2) “Spiritual people don’t slide into your DMs telling you they’re drawn to you” or want to read for you
This is *typically* true, but it depends highly on the message. Check the account (myth 1) and then see what the message says. Just because a spiritual entrepreneur slid into your inbox doesn’t mean they’re scammers, and they may not be selling you anything. Likewise, just because they appear to be legit, doesn’t mean they aren’t scammers.
Use your best intuition and due diligence to check out their profile and business, BEFORE you do business. Scammers won’t have any of this information available, because they prefer to fly under the radar.
Myth 3) If they did a reading for you for free, they’re legit.
Nah. How do you think readers get attention? They give stuff away for free all the time - I’ve even done this on many different sites. The difference between a scammer and a legitimate, professional reader is this:
A professional won’t tell you you’ve been cursed and offer to remove the curse for a fee.
A professional won’t tell you there’s some major block that’s destroying your life, but they can fix it - for a fee.
A professional won’t message you over and over again after you’ve said no.
A professional may not even message you at all.
Why? Because when you run a legitimate business, you don’t have time for all that bad juju.
Stay safe and be wary, my friends. The scammers are getting smarter.
